Community Brain Injury Services partnered with Medicap Pharmacy in Newport News, VA beginning in February 2021 to bring COVID-19 Vaccine clinics to our Clubhouse members and case management clients. As the persons we serve became eligible to receive the vaccination within the 1B classification, our staff found it exceedingly difficult to locate the vaccination for our members and clients within our communities. A lack of accessibility and adequate transportation, long waits, and technological skills needed to access appointments were just a few of the barriers facing the individuals we support. Bringing the COVID-19 vaccine to them was the perfect solution.

Thanks to the Denbigh House Advocacy team and Medicap Pharmacy, we were able to do just that. Over 300 of our Clubhouse members, case management clients, caregivers, immediate household members, and eligible 1B members of our community in both service areas were able to receive both Moderna vaccinations during 4 clinics held at The Denbigh House and The Mill House Clubhouses. We are so thankful to all of our staff, volunteers and most of all to Medicap pharmacy. Without all of them, we wouldn’t have been able to make this wouldn’t have been possible!
