Prior to 2017, an act as simple as tending to The Denbigh House garden was impossible for Clubhouse members who used wheelchairs, walkers or struggled with balance. Through the generous support of the Altria Companies Employee Community Fund, the First United Methodist Church of Newport News Foundation, the Bernardine Franciscan Sisters Foundation of Newport News, Outdoor Kitchen Creations, and many generous individual donors, The Denbigh House was able to address this accessibility barrier by completing a multi-year project to install new back doors and a paved back patio. The newly completed patio includes raised garden beds, wheelchair accessible planters and a wheelchair accessible picnic table.

The Seventh Annual Mill House Pig Out

Thank you for joining us on October 14th, 2016 for The Mill House’s most delicious event, The Mill House Pig Out BBQ! Together, Master BBQ Chef and CBIS Board Memeber, Elliott Buckner smoked up the Mill House BBQ Logomost savory pork BBQ in Richmond while The Mill House Kitchen Unit prepared the sides of cornbread, cole slaw, and beans.  We are thrilled to report that the Seventh Annual Mill House Pig Out raised nearly $11,000 for The Mill House!  This was a record for this event and we could not have done it without the commitment of our community partners and individual supporters.

Information for the 2017 Mill House Pig Out will be posted as available.  For questions regarding The Mill House Pig Out and other CBIS events, please contact Claire Yarbrough at (804) 386-0925.
