JasonYoungExecutive Director, Jason Young, MSW, CBIS

has been working with survivors of brain injury since starting at The Mill House as an intern in 2000, and has held a variety of positions within the organization from Program Coordinator to his current position of Executive Director of Community Brain Injury Services. Jason has overseen the expansion of The Mill House from a small part time program to its current status as the largest community based brain injury provider in the Metro Richmond area. In 2005, he began a second clubhouse program in Newport News, Virginia called The Denbigh House. In 2007, he oversaw the development of a community based case management program serving survivors in the Metro Richmond area.

Mr. Young is a frequent presenter at state and national conferences on the development of brain injury clubhouses for persons with brain injury. Jason has also been active in Virginia’s advocacy efforts to increase funding and services for persons with brain injury. From 2004-2008, he served as the Chair of the Virginia Alliance of Brain Injury Services Providers (VABISP), a statewide organization for service providers. Jason is also the immediate past Board President for the International Brain Injury Clubhouse Alliance (IBICA).  Mr. Young received his undergraduate degree from the University of Richmond and his Masters in Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University. In 2008, he was named one of Richmond’s “Top 40 under 40” by Style Weekly magazine. In 2014, the Brain Injury Association of Virginia honored Jason with the Weinstock Award for his demonstrated commitment to people with brain injury.  In his free time, Jason enjoys backpacking, racquetball, and golfing. Jason has two wonderful children, Mackenzie and Jacob.

ClaireDirector of Administration,
Claire Yarbrough, B.S., CBIS

is a 2002 Bachelor of Science in Psychology graduate of Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA and has been with Community Brain Injury Services since August 2006. Claire started at The Denbigh House program in Newport News as the Kitchen/Maintenance Unit Coordinator and served as Program Coordinator for more than 2 years. In March 2010, Claire made the move to Richmond to join the CBIS Leadership Team as the Director of Administration. Claire is also a proud wife and mother of two amazing children.

Development Coordinator,
Muslima Musawwir, BFA

is a Richmond VA native and recently moved back to the area after living in DC. During her time in DC, she worked in Development at Studio Theatre assisting with various fundraising events, creating and strategizing for e-fundraising campaigns, and coordinating direct mailings. She’s pleased to be joining CBIS and aiding in the growth of the organization’s fundraising initiatives. Muslima enjoys spending her free time performing, spending time with family, and enjoying tableside guacamole.

Office Manager, Theresa Burcham

is a Virginia native that joined the CBIS team in August 2016. She has over 30 years of accounting experience, as well as managerial experience. Previously, Theresa owned her own bookkeeping company.  Theresa loves working for CBIS because she believes in the  mission and loves that we are helping people live more fulfilling lives. When Theresa is not working, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two children.  She always appreciates a good book on the beach.
